Location

Koh Samui is a small and exclusive tropical island of about 206km2 featuring an abundance of beautiful beaches, tropical hillsides and quaint Thai villages and two small coastal towns (Chaweng and Lamai). Although progress to semi-urbanisation on Samui has been accelerated (10 years ago there were no tarmac roads, no airport and taxi boats were the best way to get around!!), the island is unspoilt by development. Strict legislation prevents large scale real estate projects on or anywhere near the coastline and so fortunately Koh Samui remains a picture postcard destination, encircled with the required ingredients of white sand, turquoise waters and coconut palms.

Koh Samui is growing as a popular as a holiday destination for Europeans (particularly during our cold winter months) and is still the top choice for families and couples living in Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur. Since China relaxed its borders we have seen Chinese tourists arrive in Thailand and head straight for the islands and beaches as well as proving to be a favourite South Koreans.

When Dulwich College International school opened two years ago alongside two brand new international hospitals, and major infrastructural improvements, Samui became a solid lifestyle choice for retirees and younger families seeking an alternative to city living. The marina (currently under construction) will further confirm Samui’s status as Asia’s answer to Monaco!

The airport has flight links with all major Asian hubs and over 20 flights to Bangkok every day. There are also plans for a new airport to be built which would allow for larger jets to land (from Europe and Australia, Japan etc). The marina is under construction which will encourage yachting visitors from Hong Kong and Phuket.

Cool Blue is located on the North East tip of Koh Samui near to the Big Buddha Bay and only 10 minutes from the picturesque Samui Airport. Cool Blue has views over Choeng Mon Beach, arguably the prettiest and most serene on the island. Choeng Mon is a tiny village of three boutique hotels, a handful of local restaurants and a few small shops. Ten minutes by car is the busy town of Chaweng. Chaweng is well known for its vibrant night life and is home to some fine hotels, sophisticated restaurants and spas. Other activities on the island include elephant trekking, snorkelling, scuba diving and other water sports.
